Hey everyone. Today it's me and Priscilla. Hey there. So Priscilla is the head of podcaster success at Buzzsprout and you may remember her from episode 115, Buzzsprout's Support Shift Project and what Makes Our Support Remarkable. So I have her on a Snapcast today.
Priscilla:
Snapcast is so fun. I love this idea of Snapcast, so thanks for letting me come on and hang out with you, jordan.
Jordan:
Yeah, and I'm really excited because we have like a couple fun things to talk about. So the first thing I want to talk about is I sent you a trailer for a new Netflix show called Bodkin I had not heard of this show.
Jordan:
I hadn't either. I think it was just announced. I'm excited. What caught my eye is it's another one of those TV shows about podcasters and I really thought we'd be seeing more like podcast to film adaptations lately, yeah, but it seems like we are in a true crime podcaster like parody era. I love it.
Priscilla:
I do too. I think it's great. I didn't really watch Murders in the Building or Only Murders in the Building, wait, I watched a couple episodes but I didn't get into it. I know, I know Shame, I am so shocked. But this one looks so good. It does, and it's Will Forte, and I love Will Forte.
Jordan:
He's so funny. I mean the other ones you know Steve Martin.
Priscilla:
I love Steve Martin, but I'm very excited to watch this one. This one seems a little darker.
Jordan:
It does. Yeah, and it's funny because it's from the production company that Michelle and Barack Obama started. I think it's called like Higher Ground, so I know, isn't that interesting? So, okay, I went to Netflix and the synopsis says in this darkly comedic thriller, a crew of podcasters sets out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in an idyllic Irish town, and it seems to be based on a true crime podcast that was made back in like 2021, I think, called West Cork and it was compared to like Serial or like S-Town, but it was set in this like Irish town and apparently this podcast also inspired like a Black Mirror episode. So I need to listen to this podcast.
Priscilla:
Now I need to listen to the podcast. Yeah, when does the series come out on Netflix? I think it's. May 5th. Okay, so we've got like a month to listen, to binge the podcast and to be ready for the show.
Jordan:
Yeah, and I don't know like how much it was interesting because, like in the trailer it says like based on a true story, and so I'm not sure if it's based on like that podcast exactly. I didn't like, I mean I didn't look into it that much but the podcast West Cork actually looks really interesting, so I'll link to that and then I will also link to the trailer. Be warned, there is language.
Priscilla:
But also be warned that there are Irish accents and I love Irish accents, which is why I'm so excited about this show. I love a good Irish accent.
Jordan:
It's dangerous. I so excited about this show.
Priscilla:

It's dangerous. I love them All right. Well, that's not the only reason I have you on. We actually have an announcement to make, so Buzzsprout just launched a brand new podcast starring you, priscilla.
Priscilla:
Starring me, hosted by me. Yes, very exciting. We just launched Happy to Help on Tuesday of this week, so we have a brand new bi-weekly podcast that's coming out, all about customer support, and I'm really, really excited about it.
Jordan:
This was a fun one to work on because it was just you and me, like we had total control.
Priscilla:
Which is dangerous, knowing us.
Jordan:
Yeah.
Priscilla:
I'm pretty proud of what we've done so far. We've recorded a handful of episodes and I'm really proud of them. I think they're really great and I'm excited for them to get published over the next couple of weeks and to keep making more.
Jordan:
Yeah, I also talked to Albin yesterday. I was telling him about like how fun it was to see you go through the motions that we see every new podcaster go through of like anxiety.
Priscilla:
I feel like I'm still going through them.
Jordan:
Yeah, but it was just like so funny because I was like Priscilla, out of all people, has helped like so many podcasters get started and you've been this like guiding light for all these podcasters for like seven years. And then you were messaging me like where is it?
Priscilla:
It's not showing up Like what's this? Oh my gosh, I know that was so silly.
Jordan:
Oh, I know, but I told him I was just like you've been through it a million times. But then there's something so personal about starting your own show and it becomes like your baby and you care so deeply that you like lose sight of everything you've learned. You know what I mean.
Priscilla:
There were definitely times where I feel like I was having this head and heart battle, pushing myself to do something, even though I was scared to do it, and so it was really encouraging and I feel like it gave me a new kind of understanding for our podcasters who write into support and who are nervous and who need that extra bit of encouragement. Now that I've kind of gone through it myself and been like front lines doing that, I do think I have a higher sense of understanding for our podcasters, because it can be scary to put yourself out there and I always knew that kind of in a you know abstract way. But now, having done it myself, it's definitely something I know more firsthand now.
Jordan:
So I am so glad that you pushed through it because, yeah, it has been so much fun to be working on this project with you and I'm really, really proud of this podcast. I really am. I know I say all the time how excited I am for, like, our new episodes or things like that, but I am genuinely excited about this podcast. I cannot wait for other people to hear it.
Priscilla:
So, yeah me too, and I've been trying to practice what we all preach about not checking your stats all the time. But this week I definitely have been using the Buzzsprout app and checking my stats every five minutes and I'm like this is so not healthy. But it's funny because I'm looking at these stats and I'm like, okay, I want to know who these people are that are listening. I want to. I want you to tell me what you think about the episode, but I don't know who they are Because you don't track that kind of stuff. And so it's funny, because I'm now really understanding what people like are writing in and asking us about. Like I wish there was a way for me to contact my listeners. It's now that I'm starting to like do this myself. I'm realizing, oh man, I now I understand why people want that, because there's something in me that really wants to know who these people are who have been listening.
Jordan:
